A participle is a word formed from a verb that is used as an adjective.
Examples
- Ἐγένετο ἄνθρωπος ἀπεσταλμένος παρὰ Θεοῦ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἰωάννης
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. - Μαρία δὲ εἱστήκει πρὸς τῷ μνημείῳ ἔξω κλαίουσα
But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping.
